No topic is being discussed in the streaming world at the moment as much as the so-called hot tub streams. In case you don’t know what that is yet, here’s a brief explanation.
What are Hot Tub Streams ?
In such a live video shows the streamer lightly dressed, usually in a bikini sitting in an inflatable small pool, the so-called Hot Tub. There you interact with viewers, play video games or talk about various topics. Here there is no erotic material to see since this is strictly prohibited by the streaming platforms. The next objection would be the protection of minors. Many see Twitch as a “safe space for children”, but anyone who clicks through the streams will notice that many live broadcasts are already aimed at adults. In addition, many mark their streams with a [18+] in the stream title to indicate that the content is for adults. Some female streamers criticized the fact that the gentlemen who come from such hot streams then ask inappropriate questions in their chats or make statements. According to our observations, this was already the case earlier and sounds a bit contrived because obviously every content creator has his own perception of reality and bends the world as it pleases him/her. For uninvited guests, you usually have a moderator or ban the troublemaker himself. Now this relatively new trend is cited as a reason that women have to fight against many prejudices.
A thorn in the eye of many is also the link to Onlyfans platform which most probably equate with a porn portal. Although Onlyfans has gained a lot of popularity through the erotic scene, it is by no means related to porn productions. Strictly speaking, Onlyfans is a marketing portal for creators own content, where you can pay for the content they produce. Other content can and should also be offered here – from fashion to cooking, there is also a lot of content here aside from erotic depictions.
Hot Tub Meta – the truth is in the eye of the beholder !
Let’s take one of the biggest German streamers as an example : MontanaBlack . With a Twitter message he asks Twitch that it is time to do something , illustrated with screenshots of some hot tub streamers. Further, he calls the streams “garbage”. Why he thinks it’s “garbage” isn’t explained further, but let’s draw a comparison.

Now, as an erotic magazine, we could of course be accused of a certain self-interest. But in fact, we don’t like hot tub streams either because we would naturally see the viewers on the porn sites where is also much more to see. Nevertheless, we don’t judging, denigrate and patronize women.

Twitch is trying to get a handle on the “hot tub problem”

On May 17, 2021, Twitch disabled advertising for hot tub streamers. This was foreseeable but the way this happened is still very strange, because this happened without notification to the streamers. Here you can actually only shake your head because if the hot tub streams violate the guidelines, they should be consistently prohibited and banned, if they are not, an exclusion from advertising revenue is not justified.
Here Twitch is probably trying this balancing act to keep the viewers on Twitch but still restrict the streams to do justice to the do-gooders with a pronounced phobia against naked skin. This is done without adjusting the policies and we are surprised that a company acts this way even if they can invoke some kind of domiciliary right.
The question is what could be considered as unpleasant content next – or exaggeratedly formulated: What if homosexuals no longer fit into the worldview of the Twitch community? And yes, it seems as if they are not evolving but back towards the Middle Ages.
